USENIX has been planning carefully for COVID-19 safety at FAST '22.

At the in-person conference in Santa Clara, CA, everyone will be vaccinated, well-masked, and tested daily. More details about these expectations is below, and also in the FAST Terms and Conditions.

Please register today to join us! Don't forget to reserve your hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara by Monday, February 14, to take advantage of the special USENIX room rate.

If you're unable to attend in person, please register for the virtual conference option. You'll be able to engage with speakers and attendees via Slack, and experience the same exciting program we've put together for you.

There is also still time to apply for a grant to attend the conference in person or virtually—applications will be accepted through Monday, February 7.

We’ll be taking the following measures at the in-person conference to keep all conference participants safe:

Vaccination and Mask Requirements

  • All participants must show proof of full vaccination, per WHO guidelines, to be admitted to the conference. Physical cards, photocopies, scans, or digital records are all acceptable proof. If you do not have proof of vaccination upon arrival to the event, you will not be allowed entry.
  • All participants must wear good masks that cover all respiratory orifices (for most people, that means nose and mouth), and they must be highly effective.*

Daily Testing

  • All attendees and USENIX staff will be antigen tested outdoors each morning prior to being admitted to the event. Testing will take place outdoors each morning from 7:00 am to 8:30 am near the hotel’s front entrance.
  • Latecomers cannot be tested after this window and will need to attend the conference virtually that day. They are welcome to attend in person on subsequent day(s) if they can arrange to arrive on time for the testing window. Speakers who test positive will present their talks virtually as well.

Exclusive Meeting Spaces and Open-Air Options

  • The entire in-person event will take place on the hotel's mezzanine level; the space has been reserved solely for USENIX's use.
  • Meals will be in either open-air space overlooking the lobby or outside, weather permitting. Attendees will always have the option to take their food outside.
